Even though winter has really yet to hit here at home and snow is most likely going to cover the ground for the next 4 months, I am already thinking springtime colors. I am trying to find the perfect pair of shoes that has a bright pop of color!

Pretty perfect iphone cases

I have a real love hate relationship with this time of year.

Around our office we are firing on all cylinders getting ready for the ABC Kids tradeshow.
The largest stateside tradeshow for infant and child products. There is a lot of excitement throughout our industry in general at this time. There is so much innovation and style in baby products and it all comes to a peak every year in September between ABC in the US and Jugend Kind show in Cologne, Germany.

We watch like hawks for new products debuted by other great companies in our industry.

Technically Petunia would be considered competition for us, but they have great products, and when it comes down to it, I just really enjoy great products, design and style.

Case in point:
Petunia Pickle Bottom just updated their site with their fall line, including these uber cute iphone cases.
Ah,to die for...

Mad Men Style Collaboration

Costume designer for Mad Men, Janie Bryant, teams up with Banana republic to release a 65-piece "capsule collection" debuting in August available in store and online.
These "Mad Men-esque" styles are not a far stretch from the usual banana republic style and look. The styling of the makeup and hair in the lookbook and add campaign make the clothes as 60's mod as they can be. Without the up swept hair, mini gloves and accessories these clothes are or could be a part of an everyday wardrobe without looking like they are inspired by the show.

Along the same lines as Mad Men, is anyone looking forward to Pan Am
on ABC this fall?

1920's pinned-up hair

What do you think of the the 1920's-esque hairdo's showing up all over?
I love the polished updo's, but not sure about the frizzy-mess bobs. Kat Deeley
wore one on "so you think you can dance" last night, but I can't
find an image of it yet. I guess that they are a good prelude to the remake of
The Great Gatsby due out in 2012.

Tell me, what do you think?
Would you wear your hair this way?

project runway season 9

In honor of project runway season 9 debuting ONE month from today(yay!),
I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the past designs.
There are a lot of really bad things that end up walking down that
runway, but instead of looking at any of those, let's focus on the good!

Some of my overall favorites.
One of my favorite episodes is the one where they use unusual materials. In the
season (season 8) they went to a party store and had to use mediums that they
could find within the store. The first and second looks are napkins, the
third is ribbon that has been twisted & braided and the third is made out
of cup cake cups.

These vampire and cowgirl inspired looks are from season 6. The challenge
was to use movie themed looks to make a runway design. I love the
theatrical-inspired look made more modern
.
And of course no project runway review would be complete without
a look at the designs of Christian Siriano--best
designer to come out of the show.
His final collection was refined and looked so professional.

Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty at the MET

I have been dying to see the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibit at the MET. It runs until August 7th. The images of the pieces are INSANE, so in person, I am sure it is mind blowing! Maybe I can convince B that this is what I want to do for an anniversary trip--I mean I am sure it would be his idea of a great trip too, right?...

photography by The Photograph Studio, The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Watch the exhibit video, the talent and imagination of his collections are amazing.

Pair it with pops of pink, keep it monochromatic with dark jeans and turquoise accent,or sail away with lots of stripes.

Spring Trend: Ballet Pink Shoes

LOVE-ING

I am loving this spring trend of the softest ballet pink shoes. Since it is just a slight variance in color from a nude shoes, these offer the same leg-elongating affect, but are a fun change from a straight nude. Somewhere in the past year I have become a fan of some colors I disliked a couple of years ago. Pink (case-in-point) and Navy are two that come to mind.

1. Jessica Simpson Waleo $89
2. Chinese Laundry Haylie $89
3. Badgley Mischka Randall $200
4. Guiseppe Peep-toe $550
5. Dolce Vita Leona $74
6. Marc Jacobs Vinty wedge $330
7. Bridgette Bailey Charee $79
8. Gabrielle Rocha Neve $79

LOVE

Yes, okay, I admit it. I do watch the bachelor. It's my TV guilty pleasure. This season I loved Emily Maynards little rocker-esque bracelets. She was such a sweet and graceful character, but I thought that her layered bracelets added just enough edge to create some dimension in her style and personality. Now I'm on the hunt for some new bracelets of my own!
